You photograph a receipt and put the phone away. Reading it, converting the currency, picking the category and writing it into your budget all happen after that, without you — so Fili tells you how it went.

Every kind of message Fili can send has its own switch. Nothing arrives that you cannot find and turn off.

Receipt saved. The receipt became a transaction. The line names the shop, the day the money is dated, what it cost and where it landed:

Receipt saved Migros · 17 Oct 2026 · ₺248.50 → €6.80 · Groceries

The second amount appears when the receipt was in another currency, and it is the real converted figure, not an estimate — the message waits until the transaction exists. The date always carries its year, so a receipt whose year was read wrong says so on the lock screen rather than in a budget month you were not looking at.

Receipt problems. The receipt is saved, but it cannot go further as it is: it may be one you already photographed, the total may be unreadable, the items may not add up to the total, the currency or the date may be unclear. The top line says which of those it is; the line under it says which receipt, with whatever was read off it:

Receipt may be a duplicate Migros · 17 Oct 2026 · ₺2,010.10

Receipt items don’t add up Migros · 17 Oct 2026 · ₺2,010.10

When the photo gave up nothing at all, the second line explains that instead.

Two of those messages are about the date, because a date read off a crumpled line of digits is the thing most often read wrong, and a wrong one puts the money in the wrong month at the wrong exchange rate:

Receipt is dated in the future Carrefour · 26 Aug 2027 · ₾89.23

Is this receipt a month old? Carrefour · 26 Aug 2026 · ₾89.23

The first is never right — no till prints tomorrow. The second may well be right: photographing a receipt you found in a coat pocket is an ordinary thing to do, and the message asks rather than tells. Either way the date is shown, never changed: open the receipt and tap the date to correct it if it is wrong.

Merchant names. Once a month, when the same shop has piled up under two spellings:

Merchant names need a tidy-up 13 pairs look like one shop.

Tapping a receipt message opens that receipt. Tapping the merchant one opens the list of pairs waiting to be joined — see Clean up merchant names.

  1. Open Settings from the avatar in the top right of Budget.
  2. Scroll to Notifications.
  3. The top row allows this phone anything at all. Under it, one row per kind: Merchant names, Receipt saved, Receipt problems.
  4. Switch off the row you do not want. It takes effect straight away.

Switching off the top row stops everything. The rows below stay on screen, greyed out, so you can still see what Fili would send if you turned it back on.

  • One message per receipt. Either Receipt saved or one of the problem messages, never both, and never twice for the same photo.
  • It goes to the phone that took the photo, not to everyone in the family. The others see the receipt and the money in the app, which is where it matters to them.
  • The switches belong to this phone. Another phone signed into the same account keeps its own answers, so you can let one device stay quiet.
  • The category is only on the saved message. It is chosen when the receipt gets its transaction, which is after the reading — a problem message cannot name one without inventing it.
  • A duplicate is reported, not declared. The message says may be a duplicate because the comparison can be wrong. The receipt screen shows both receipts so you can decide, and keeping both is one of the choices there.
  • If the line under the top row reads “Not set up on this device yet”, your switches are on but this phone has not finished registering — usually a connection that dropped at the wrong moment. There is nothing to do; Fili keeps trying in the background.
  • A receipt that never attaches to a transaction sends nothing. That one shows up as a card inside the app instead, on the receipt itself.
